After hospital leadership launched the initiative to create a centralized location for all discharge patients leaving the hospital, ORMC launched the discharge lounge in February 2025. The goal was to utilize the discharge lounge for patients leaving the hospital to better serve patient discharge needs by dedicated staff and decrease length of stay in each bed.
The pharmacy’s role was a crucial component in the success of the new initiative and quickly improved their workflow. Instead of delivering prescriptions to the bedside, they were delivered to ScriptCenter® located in the discharge lounge. ScriptCenter® created a centralized location for discharge patients and caregivers to conveniently pickup their prescriptions.

- Reduction in waiting time for patients in the discharge lounge
- Eliminated the need to deliver medications throughout the hospital as part of the meds-to-beds program
- Increase in discharge patient capture to 70%
