Asteres develops ScriptCenter® kiosks and lockers to allow for the secure and safe pickup of prescriptions and healthcare products 24/7. ScriptCenter lets pharmacy staff maintain control of filling and checking prescriptions, while ScriptCenter takes care of the securely tracking pickup and payment of pharmacist filled prescriptions. With the experience that comes from providing customer convenient access to millions of prescriptions worldwide, opening regulatory access for automated prescription pickup solutions, and developing extensive integration capabilities with leading pharmacy management and point-of-sale system providers, Asteres’ ScirptCenter is the automated prescription pickup solution with more systems placed than any other player in the market.

Linda Pinney | Founder and CEO

Linda, Founder of Asteres Inc., was most recently the CEO of The StartUp Lab, Inc., a venture development company serving venture capital firms and venture-backed companies. Previously she founded and was Chairman & CEO for DNA Dynamics, Inc., a top 10 finalist for San Diego’s most innovative new company of the year award. Linda was hired as the 13th employee of Pyxis Corporation and served as Vice President of Business Development. Linda successfully developed, patented and led Pyxis into new product offerings including SupplyStation, Pyxis Data System and PyxisStation. She also created and led the Alternate Site Division to $20 million in revenue in two years. Linda took Pyxis outside healthcare constructing a licensing and equity deal with a private company pursuing industry applications of Pyxis products. Pyxis enjoyed a successful IPO and was sold to Cardinal Health for close to $1 billion. Prior to Pyxis, Linda was in business development for Sharp HealthCare and Centinela Hospital. She has a Bachelor of Science in Genetics from U.C. Davis, and a Masters in Business & Healthcare Administration from U.S.C.

Scott Peterson | Chief Financial Officer

Scott has over 25 years of accounting, finance, contracts, business development and sales performance management experience within businesses providing automation and information services to the Healthcare provider market. Scott has been instrumental in helping companies navigate through periods of dynamic growth and the business challenges that accompany market leaders in competitive industries. Scott most recently served as Chief Financial Officer and Board Secretary of Medvantx, Inc, a technology enabled healthcare services company, providing physicians and consumers with improved access to retail and specialty drug therapies. Prior he was the Group Chief Financial Officer over the Automation and Information Services (‘AIS’) segment of Cardinal Health. He joined Cardinal Health as a result of its acquisition of Pyxis Corporation where he had been Pyxis’ Controller and Principal Accounting Officer. Within a year of the Cardinal acquisition, he was promoted to the Chief Financial Officer position at Pyxis. Three years after that, he was promoted to the AIS Group Chief Financial Officer role, where he assumed the additional responsibility of leading business development and facility operations activity. He was also on the Board of the Cardinal Health Foundation, which primarily provides financial support to qualified organizations in the areas of health, education and children’s services. Scott has a B.S. in Business Administration from Drexel University.

Valerie M. Gionis | Vice President, Sales and Marketing

Valerie brings more than 20 years of diverse experience in marketing and sales strategy, business development, and customer experience management to Asteres. She is known for translating complex ideas into meaningful action, which has enabled her to successfully position companies for investment, acquisition, and growth. In her previous role as co-founder and CEO of early-stage stroke diagnostic start-up Valtari Bio, she developed the business strategy, positioning, and strategic partnerships. Prior to this, Valerie served as the marketing leader at Optivia Biotechnology, where she revamped the company’s brand as a leading contract research organization in transporter studies and created the go-to-market strategy for their first product. As the former VP of Marketing and Corporate Communications for TV Magic, she brought the video systems integrator into its most successful new vertical market within a year and worked directly on customer integration projects to enhance the customer experience. Early in her career, she worked for two highly innovative cell-based image analysis and software companies, Q3DM Inc. and Vala Sciences, where her responsibilities included directing marketing, operations, and customer service programs. Valerie has a bachelor’s degree in History from CSU San Marcos.

 

Laird Broadfield | Vice President, Research and Development

Laird was most recently Vice President of R&D for the Pyxis division of Fortune 500’s 17th ranked Cardinal Health. Laird’s responsibilities included product portfolio management and M&A evaluation as well as leading the product development staff of 220, encompassing product conception and design, embedded and application software development, hardware development, industrial design, and product assurance. He was the first member of Pyxis’s development staff, and held various technical and management roles during his 16 years there, through the company’s growth from its first narcotics control product to a suite of more than 70 products, including medication and supply management systems, clinical safety software, medication workflow systems, and point-of-care systems. He was a member of Pyxis’s executive committee, and an officer of its development subsidiary. Prior to Pyxis, Laird worked in scientific software and instrument development for Hybritech, San Diego’s first biotechnology company; his other technology experience includes work in instrument development for pharmaceutical companies and software design and operations for the financial services industry.

 

Trace Funderburk | Vice President, Operations

Trace has over 25 years of industry experience in a mixture of industries and roles in service,  contract and turnkey manufacturing, supply chain, facilities, and project management.  He has worked for Tier 1 companies – Becton Dickinson,  Cardinal Health, CareFusion, as well as startup and mid-size companies. He brings a systematic approach using practices that transcend industries – PMP, Lean, DMAIC, and 5S.

He holds a BS in Info Systems from San Diego University and a Masters in Management from the University of Redlands School of Business.  He teaches for the Association of Supply Chain Management (ASCM/APICS). He holds professional credentials as a Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)  and a Certified in Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution (CLTD).
